Cure for Itchy Braids and Weaves

Have you ever gotten cornrows, braids or a weave? Then you know how the story goes – after a couple of day(maybe less) your braids start itching so much- you think you might scratch your hair off! Until recently I never knew what caused the itching until I stumpled across a thread on a hair care forum. It turns out the fake braid hair that is used to cornrow your hair contains Alkaline which is potentially irritating for your scalp.

The good news is that this problem is easily solved by creating a ‘vinegar soak’.Follow the simple steps bellow to prevent itchy weaves and braids.

  1. Fill a big bowl or a your sink with water and add 1 cup of vinegar.
  2. You soak the hair in the water for 15 minutes.
  3. Rinse hair thoroughly with water
  4. Let the hair air dry.

This vinegar soak will ensure that the alkaline base in the braided hair disappears and will not cause irritation once you braid it up.  Always remember that your scalp is skin, and must be treated with the same care and sensitivity as you would any other skin parts on your body.
